Cable and Roller Replacement
Replace worn cables and rollers to restore smooth, safe garage door operation.
Your garage door cables and rollers take the full weight of the door every time it opens and closes. Over time, they fray, rust, or wear flat from friction. When they fail, the door gets stuck or drops suddenly. We replace both cables and rollers as a matched set so your door moves evenly and safely again.
Spring, TX heat and humidity accelerate corrosion on metal hardware. We use commercial-grade cables rated for residential doors and install heavy-duty nylon rollers that ride smoothly in the tracks. The job typically takes two to three hours. We inspect your springs and hinges while we're in there to catch other problems early.
You'll notice the difference immediately. The door opens and closes quietly without jerking or grinding. No more manual cranking if the opener fails. Your door sits level in the frame and doesn't bind at the top or bottom. The whole system feels solid again.
About cable and roller replacement
How do I know if my cables are bad?
Listen for fraying or metal-on-metal noise when the door opens. Look at the cables on either side of the door. If one is visibly slack or broken, both need replacing. A door that jerks to one side or won't open all the way is another sign.
Can you replace just the rollers without the cables?
We recommend replacing both at the same time. Old cables put uneven stress on new rollers, and worn rollers make cables work harder. A matched replacement lasts longer and costs less than fixing one part now and the other later.
How long do new cables and rollers last?
With normal use in Spring's climate, you're looking at seven to ten years before wear shows up again. Regular lubrication of the tracks and rollers extends that timeline. We'll let you know what maintenance helps them last.
